Due to the polarization of international society, Abraham Olckers (1901-1943) lost his life on the Burma railway during the Second World War. This loss has caused a family trauma that has continued into the third generation.

The Olckers Foundation was founded in 2021 and aims to tell objective stories through imaging that contribute to improving mutual understanding and tolerance within Dutch and international society.

The Olckers Foundation wants to achieve this goal by producing, realizing and distributing documentaries and films with a social basis.

Following the first documentary on the theme of intergenerational trauma, the Minister of Defense, after thorough research, decided to posthumously award Abraham Olckers the War Mobilization Cross as a token of appreciation and respect for his efforts under extremely difficult circumstances. The presentation took place 80 years after his death during the commemoration of Burma victims on August 19, 2023 by the commander of Bronbeek, Arnhem.
